Director

Gladys is a Director of David Llewelyn & Co LLC. She graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree from Singapore Management University and was called to the Singapore bar in 2015. Gladys’ practice focuses on commercial law, intellectual property, information technology and data protection. She has also advised and represented clients in litigation and arbitration.

In addition to her legal qualifications, Gladys graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences, with a specialisation in Biomedical Science.

Gladys has written on commercial law issues including co-authoring the chapter on Intellectual Property in Principles of Singapore Business Law (2019), contributing to Cases, Materials & Commentary on Singapore Intellectual Property Law (2018) and to Bullen & Leake & Jacob’s Singapore Precedents of Pleadings (2016). She chairs the Copyright and Designs sub-committee of the Law Society of Singapore’s Intellectual Property Committee.

Before joining David Llewelyn & Co LLC, Gladys practised at Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP where she was part of the intellectual property, technology, and entertainment and media team.

  • drafting and advising on IT agreements;
  • advising an engineering company on alleged patent infringement;
  • advising a film production company on content-related issues; 
  • advising on and managing the intellectual property portfolio of an international luxury fashion brand;
  • advising a statutory board on intellectual property issues;
  • advising on the intellectual property aspects of a reverse listing of an Australian listed company;
  • representing a private equity firm (as petitioning creditor) in judicial management proceedings;
  • advising and representing a Singapore-listed engineering company in matters related to the judicial management of the company;
  • representing an entertainment company in relation to UDRP proceedings against a cyber-squatter using a URL similar to the company name;
  • representing Hong Kong based manufacturer in a trade mark infringement and passing off claim against a distributor in Singapore;
  • representing a leading multinational software company in an arbitration in Singapore under the SIAC Rules for breaches of software licensing agreements and copyright infringement;
  • representing a leading franchisor in an action against its master franchisee in China for breaches of the franchise agreement, copyright infringement and passing off;
  • advising a local university on various copyright issues;
  • advising a leading agri-food company on patent issues; and
  • advising an internet payment company on possible infringement of a Singapore fintech patent.
